Thanks for the analysis ... Miguel Cabrera is amazing ... if he's ever a free agent, he's on the short-list of guys I'd break the bank for (ala what the Giants did when they signed Bonds from the Pirates) ...
re: your obsession with the Winning Machine that is Dave Roberts, here's a Q&A from BP ...
Velez (Miami): Will the Whitesox coming back down to earth around the same time that Podnesick got hurt further people overvaluing him? Obviously, I know the answer to this, but I would like you to comment on it regardless.
James Click: Probably. People love to evaluate players by a team's record with and without the player in question. It's a terrible method of evaulation and if any of that perceived value rubs off on the players, Kenny Williams would be wise to move him as fast as possible.
Padres manager Bruce Bochy acknowledged that he decided to make Nady the Padres' full-time first baseman on the club's last road trip. Nady had been splitting time with left-hander hitting Mark Sweeney since the club traded 1B Phil Nevin to Texas for RHP Chan Ho Park on July 29. "X has been getting some good at-bats against some tough right-handers. I think he has made a lot of progress and has done a pretty nice job. I've let him go down there." Nady is hitting .262 with 13 homers and 41 RBIs in only 271 at-bats. Sweeney, hitting .354 as a pinch hitter, has a .326 batting average with eight home runs and 33 RBIs.
