Richard ... you need to revisit the MVP voting ... Trevor got 19 points ... highest vote was 4th place ... so I s'pose that makes him worth 19x what Eyre is worth? :-)
I just wasn't thinking when I typed it, Howard. As for Trevor being worth 19 times what Eyre is, I rather doubt it. He's worth nearly double. The thing is, Eyre has been paid more than his production is worth.
sorry for the subject change - - but what do you think about the rumor that giles will take less money to stay on the padres? i have a feeling that the yankees will pay him as much as it takes to get him out to NY...we have no options left...
It's looking more and more likely that we may be able to keep Giles. Retaining him maight make us the division favorites, even if Hoffman and Ramon walk. I think a fourth year will be necessary to ink Giles, but he'll still at least be a high OBP guy even then, and will still be a plus in the lineup. Hey, welcome back, Yank Chick. Always nice to get a little dose of estrogen around here.

I don't see Gilly taking less money to stay here. I also don't think he wants to play in New York. I expect him to end up with St. Louis currenty.
hmm...why do you say that?
According to Gilly's agent, he would accept a discounted offer from San Diego. My mistake.
I forget who said it, but if Giles really wanted to be a Yankee he'd have Torre on speed dial not be playing phone tag with him.
