The Rotation

Title Track

Did I miss something? Padre fans and radio personalities are calling for some Padre or another (usually Burroughs) to be traded for pitching. I'm sorry, but pitching? Pitching? Are you kidding me? Obviously I missed something. Here's the rotation:

1. Jake Peavy
2. Adam Eaton
3. Woody Williams
4. Tim Stauffer
5. Brian Lawrence

What team has a better rotation than that? You have Jake Peavy who is the best young pitcher in baseball and one of the best pitchers in baseball period at the top. Adam Eaton has the stuff to be an ace. Woody Williams has anchored rotations in the past and has #2-3 starter stuff. Tim Stauffer is a rookie of the year candidate and Brian Lawrence is the best #5 starter in the game bar none. Also, Darrell May is one of the better spot starters you'll find. Why do we need more pitching? Anyone?

Exactly! - Good stuff. I was at a gas station and the attendant had a cool Padre hat on and I metioned it and started talking baseball with him (mistake).

He went on for awhile and we talked back and forth... Good innocent stuff, then he said, "If they'd just open the wallet and spend some money on a starter. We need some pitching."

Ugh. I walked away...

We need pitching, dudes. This rotation is Peavy and that's it. Eaton and Woody are hurting and Lawrence would make a nice number 3, but in today's game is inconsistent as a number 2. Stauffer is hardly a rookie of the year candidate. And a spot start by May doesn't exactly inspire confidence. If anything, it inspires a feeling of, "What? May's starting again? Why haven't we traded for more pitching?"

Though that being said, I love your respective enthusiasms.

Go Padres! Beat LA!

I agree with Dex ... can NEVER have enough good pitching ... as long as Reyes, May and Redding are on the roster, the Padres would benefit from a trade for a good pitcher ...

And like Dex, I too appreciate the enthusiasm ... and think May is fine as a long/mop-up guy ...
